Brad’s Story

$70,000?! That’s the staggering amount my wife found herself owing in student loans, a debt that weighed not only on her shoulders but soon became a burden for our family as well.

Her journey began in a good high school, with a loving family that cared deeply about her future. She had dreams of attending college, but she lacked clarity about her own identity, interests, and value. The pressure to figure it all out intensified as she faced the decision of choosing a four-year college and declaring a major. A conversation with a Speech Pathologist seemed like a reasonable fit, so she declared her major, dedicated five years of her life, earned a Bachelor’s degree, only to realize she needed a Master’s. By then, she knew further education wasn’t her path, leaving her feeling stuck after college – underemployed, confused, and insecure.

My story, as you might have guessed, wasn’t far off either. Perhaps you know someone who shares a similar tale. Naively, I believed we were an exception to the rule, prompting me to embark on a quest to discover the truth. Shockingly, we weren’t the exception; we were the norm.

Here’s the alarming truth:

Only 3 out of 10 people find true happiness in their careers. 1 in 4 college graduates never practices in their field of study. 1 in 3 college graduates ends up moving back in with their parents. The average college graduate is burdened with $37,000 in student loan debt. More than half of college graduates struggle with unemployment or underemployment.

Schools have attempted to address this issue with lavish resources, but they miss the crucial point. It doesn’t matter how many opportunities a student encounters if they lack understanding of their VISA – Values, Identity, Strengths, and Aptitude. They need guidance to make informed decisions, conquer self-doubt, and boost their confidence.

The misconception that one’s identity is solely tied to their profession adds to the pressure, leading to comparisons, ill-advised choices, and life-altering consequences. I’m deeply committed to breaking this cycle for the next generation.

Currently, there’s only an 8% chance that a college graduate will both work in their field of study and genuinely enjoy their job. This bleak statistic applies to those fortunate enough to complete their degrees. But it’s not all despair. There’s hope!

Through years of research and experience, I’ve developed a solution. I want to help students discover their VISA, make informed decisions, overcome self-limiting beliefs, navigate the ever-changing job market, target positions and mentors to proactively pursue their dreams, identify strengths and weaknesses, market themselves effectively, and acquire skills that will serve them beyond their teenage years.

I want to prepare them for a future where they can make a multi-generational impact, leveraging their unique gifts and talents to step confidently into their future.

It’s time to turn the tide and provide a brighter future for our youth.

Will you join me in this mission to empower the next generation to step boldly into their destiny?
